Elhuyar Language Services offers the following language combinations through its team of translators:

OpenTrad Machine Translation Tool

The Elhuyar Foundation is a member of the OpenTrad consortium which has in fact developed an open-code machine translation tool to handle translations between all the official languages of Spain.

The OpenTrad system enables us to offer faster, cheaper translations between Spanish, Catalan and Galician, without compromising the quality of the translation. We revise all the texts translated automatically in order to ensure the quality of automatic translation.

The main features of the OpenTrad system are as follows:

• OpenTrad is an open-code based machine translation tool available for all the official languages of Spain: Spanish, Catalan, Galician and Basque.
• It is the only Machine Translation Tool available for the Spanish-Galician language pair in both directions. The quality achieved when translating between this language pair is 95.2%.
• The quality achieved in the Spanish-Catalan language pair is 96.2%.
• It is the only machine translation tool available for the Spanish-Basque language pair.
• It is an open-code system.

This system is undergoing a continuous improvement process. The members of the OpenTrad consortium in fact collaborate in R+D+Innovation projects aimed at improving the machine translation tool and extending it to other languages: Spanish-French; Spanish-Portuguese and Spanish-English.

Elhuyar has collaborators that work with it and has direct links with the TranslateMedia translation company in London, which handles the translations that cannot be undertaken at Elhuyar itself.

Collaboration with all of them means that Elhuyar is in a position to translate into all the official languages of Europe and into other languages as well.
